My Remarks on A.I (ChatGPT) Ecosystem :- A Stunning POV
What is a Machine?
Considering all the depths and broadness of this compact word, I think the best way to define machine is to say that anything that reduces human effort is called a machine. A more broader word synonymous to 'machine' is a 'tool'.
The word 'machine' pushes our brain to think of some sort of engine, or maybe a physical gadget. But the word 'tool' encompasses everything that a machine does, and more. For example, even a software can reduce human effort to very large extents.
A few months ago, when OpenAI's ChatGPT was persistently making headlines for being so powerful, versatile, accurate and prodigious in humanly professions and crafts; it occured to me that I must make a blog on it.
Then I proceeded to research about all its technical terms, history etc. But then I thought that the blog will be too dry and dull with all that readymade packets of information.
Hence, here I present forth some very interesting remarks that I've made on this ChatGPT and the extraordinary abilities of AI.
Remarks on Job Losses Due to AI
In 1860s, people were hired to throw coal inside train chimneys. Around industrial revolution, thousands and thousands of factory workers used to get employed, until machines replaced them. Thinking a bit more, we can cite countless such examples how due to technology advancement, needs of human effort in certain areas got reduced, and shifted to other spaces.
It's not that companies adapting ChatGPT and firing its employees is a cruel thing. Obviously, by definition, a 'machine' is made to reduce human effort! But over innumerable decades of rapid technological expansion, we humans have kept deepining our creative abilities - which essentially makes us who we are.
The Perspective of Narayan Murthy is the final conclusion of my point here :-
Speaking on the sidelines of NASSCOM Technology and Leadership Forum 2023, Infosys founder Narayana Murthy described ChatGPT as a good thing. He detailed his rendezvous with the chatbot and said, "I have used ChatGPT. My son introduced me to it a few months ago. It provides you the knowledge and then you can use it further as per your creativity."
Murthy explained that it will not take away jobs, he further said, "Even in 1977-78, there were programme generators that had come in and so everybody feared for jobs but that didn't happen. Because the human mind is the most flexible instrument. So, it was then used to help bigger problems with human creativity and tech together.
And so, "ChatGPT is a good one but we must use it as a base and then use it to show our creativity and solve bigger problems but be it ChatGPT or AI, it will never replace humans," he concluded.
Hence, in this part of this blog series, I covered job losses aspect of AI. In next blog, I will give a Vedantic remark on AI, that how we've freaking reproduced intelligence, and that we are beyond our body, thoughts, mind!
Thanks,
Daksh Parekh.
