Innovative You - What is Innovation? How to be out of the box?
Hey Guys,
This is our Ep1 of the series 'Innovative You'.
To start off properly, Let us clear all our fundamentals and make our basic pillars of Innovative Thinking stronger.
What is Innovation?
There are so so many books out there defining Innovation the best way possible. With my little experience and knowledge, I define Innovation as developing ideas that replaces older traditions and implement them to make certain tasks easier and more efficient than the older custom. This was my explaination of the word Innovation in simplest way possible, which came naturally in my awareness.
Why Innovation needs thinking out of the box?
Suppose you are an ant which is trapped inside a box. For you, the world around you is brown cardboard with finite space and finite reasources. For you, there is no sky, no land, no water, nothing. Why? Simply because you are INSIDE THE BOX. Got me? You as an ant if thinks OUTSIDE THE BOX can change your whole world, whole experience!
Knowledge of Fire was out of the box. Knowledge of electricity was out of the box.
Imagine the world without these.
Ain't it supressing you "inside" the box?
How to think out of the box?
For me, first I'll know the whole box!
Knowledge of the box will let me question its existence and will tend me automatically to think out of the box.
Same way, you as an individual, must have the knowledge of the world around you. You can know it by experiencing it, thinking about it or by reading books.
Note that Innovation is developing ideas, finding solutions. If you even don't know the problems, how come you find solutions? For this, the best way out is Bloom's Taxonomy. Look at these steps.
Observe. Find problems. Think about the problems. Find out alternate ways to tackle the problems. Frame up the whole puzzle. You have your Innovation ready!
Problems are everywhere. Literally. In every field of work there are problems. Remember that untill and unless we become GODS, problems will never leave our neighbourhood.
There are contradictions everywhere, Flaws everywhere. What YOU need to do is just find the loop holes of various systems. Look if you can change it or improve it. As I said, there are loopholes everywhere.
There will come a time when you'll naturally find innovative idea to revolutionize one of them. At the end of the day, 100 percent too is just 99.99 percent. Let us practice innovation, against all odds!
Stay tuned for the next episode.
