Emotional Sloppiness and Shallow Sentimentality is not helping us.

Namaste Folks,

This blog is an outcome of disgust. This blog is an outcome of pain and despair. I will really be straightforward and to-the-point.

On the Internet, wherever your sight goes, the only thing you find the most repetitively is emotional drama and shallow sentimentality.

Love is good. Compassion is great. But seeing this feeling of sentimentality draining the youth is truly disgraceful to watch.

Young fiercy youths, not even of 15 years completed, are found nowadays drenched in those dramatic songs you hear on people's WhatsApp Statuses with Lord Krishna crying with Radhaji every now and then.

The only inspiration you find in Lord Krishna is that?

Lord Krishna's impression in our minds nowadays has just been limited to a 16-year-old boy holding a flute and crying with a young radhaji!

What I mean to say, my friends, is this is all we look up to? All this narrowness of being crazily sentimental and wimpy? All the time?

Even in Bollywood films you find this. Every movie has a serious lover who is in search of his lady. The only mission you find there is just to marry the love of his life. All sorts of mischief and frictions happening during that mission is then labelled as 'thriller'  and 'action'.

You cannot imagine how much this nonsense affects the youth. From the very birth if the child is influenced by all this, would not his vigour and other tastes of life vanish?

The moment you turn on the TV you see crying pair of couples. The moment you try to hear any Bollywood song you find sentimental songs. If NOT sentimental, then atleast you'll find something in that song about "finding your loved ones"   or related to that.

You see, we kind of have this in our blood, that we can call it as 'Shallow Sentimentality.'

We Indians have this emotional factor constantly fluctuating. When any festival like Navratri, Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, Eid etc comes, suddenly we become so much holy and joyful and all-loving. Then again back to normal. We are always up-and-down. Our joys, our feelings and our resolutions never ever contain actual depth.

According to Ancient Indian Scriptures, there are a total of 9 tastes of life, 9 major emotions to experience. One of them is 'Virah' or 'missing the loved one'.

Now also we find this taste of life the only one around. No other taste. All this shallowness, All this being emotional and dramatic.

Look at the mad englishmen full of 'veer ras'  or taste of vigour and adventure. They jumped in a boat, went all around the world and conquered the vast lands! Look that the crazy Spaniards and Romans - development came to them when they invoke their inner fire, inner dignity and this hunger for knowledge and power.

If you still did not get what I mean to say, just read what Swami Vivekanand thinks on this :-

My faith is in the younger generation, the modern generation, out of them will come my workers. They will work out the whole problem, like lions. I have formulated the idea and have given my life to it. If I do not achieve success, some better one will come after me to work it out, and I shall be content to struggle."

Where are the men? That is the question. Young men, my hope is in you. Will you respond to the call of your nation? Each one of you has a glorious future if you dare to believe me. Have a tremendous faith in yourselves, like the faith I had when I was a child, and which I am working out now. Have that faith, each one of you, in yourselves - that eternal power is lodged in every soul - and you will revive the whole of India. Ay, we will then go to every country under the sun, and our Ideas will before long be a component of that many forces that are working to make up every nation in the world. Now for that, I want Young people. It is the young, the strong, and healthy, of sharp intellect that will reach the Lord - says the Vedas."

Otherwise, ignorant common boys are taking over..dullness is written on their faces - their hearts devoid of energy, their body feeble and unfit to work and mind empty of courage. What will be done by these? If I get ten to twelve people with the infinite faith of Nachiketâ, I can turn the thoughts and pursuits of this country in a new channel.

And among some who appear to me be of a good calibre, some have bound themselves by matrimony, some have sold themselves for acquiring name, fame or wealth, while some are of feeble bodies. The rest, who form the majority, are unable to recieve and grasp any high idea. You are no doubt fit to recieve any high idea, but you are not able work them out in practical field!

For these reasons, sometimes an anguish comes to my mind, and I think that taking this human body, I could not do much work through untowardness of fortune. Of course, I have not yet wholly given up hope, for, by the will of God, from among these very boys may arise in time great heroes of action and spirituality who will in future work out my ideas."

Here we are - with our young blood busy in updating their Instagram Story everyday wishing his friend Happy Birthday until finally his birthday comes after 12 such days!

Here we are - with our tenderly flowering youths busy in flexing and showing over-attachmemt towards their materialistic possessions and tagging friends in sentimental Reels of friendship.

We need to get over this. We need to get beyond this. We cannot progress with our half-grown plants crying and showing emotional sloppiness in social medias and being mentally blank and screwed up.

Thanks,
Daksh Parekh.
