The Way Naren Taught Us Modern Spirituality.
Hello Everyone!
We all know how significant spirituality is, in India. To take it even further, we can say that the National Theme of India is Spirituality.
Every nation has a national goal, upon which the masses work, and that which is the soul of the nation. Take USA for an instance, its whole system is depended on democrats and republician ideology. What makes US differ from other countries? Its views on liberty and freedom.
Ask any Englishman or American about the political condition of the country. In a flash he'll burst up with all his views on democracy, political agendas and social conditions. When you ask him about Spirituality, he might say he goes to the church every sunday, and may tell you some stories about jesus. That's all he is concerned about. He wishes no more.
Now, when you ask an Indian Commener about Political and Social Conditions of India, he might point out one or two defects of the governance and atmost might even give his views on some policies, but when you ask him about Spirituality; he knows exact traditions of his forefathers, he knows all the philosophies and rituals. There goes a joke on Indian Traditions, that if Lord Ram comes to pay visit to India in 2021, he might not be completely shocked and moved seeing India - for our traditions and customs are eternally practiced!
Anyways,
In 1880s, there lived a boy called Narendra in Calcutta - Bengal. From his birth itself, he was gifted with tremendous concentration power that one day when all his friends where playing a 'meditation game' testing who can sit quietly for the longest. When he sat to meditation, he was such focused and one pointed that he could not even hear or feel anything external! Suddenly a cobra came and everyone ran shouting and worried.. But the boy Naren, was completely cut off his senses that could not even hear their friends!
As he grew, he got to know about all the western philosophers like Schopenhauer who kind of lighted a lamp of 'inquiry' and 'questioning' in Narendra. At one point, he read western philosophers debunking all the hindu faiths with rational thinking and at other hand he used to hear Ramayana and Mahabharata stories from her mother!
A fierce urge for truth rised in him. He decided to go to every single saint and monk. His mission was simple. Just go to every spiritual mystic and ask him if he has seen god, that's it.
Such was his urge. He did not wanted sweet stories on heavens and gods. He wanted a direct encounter with the seer of god. This is what Spirituality is!
If you cannot say you have experienced god, it is better to say that you're an atheist instead of saying 'I believe in God.' This is because belief and non belief literally takes you nowhere from your plane of existence.
Narendra went everywhere but couldn't find a man who dared to say that yes he had seen god.
His cousin, Ram Chandra, suggested him to visit a Kali Priest at Dakshineswar. Narendra first thought that how can a mere priest, who might not even know how to write his own name, can experience god! After all arguments, he finally went to Dakshineswar.
There he met Sri Ramkrishna,
A Kail Priest with simplicity dripping from him every second.
Naren, the fiery youth, went into his place and directly asked him,
"Hey, what God, God you chant all the time? Is there any proof that god exists?"
"I'm the proof" said Ramkrishna calmly.
"What? Have you seen God?" Asked Naren.
" Yes! I've seen God. Even now, I can see god more clearly than you! " asnwered ramkrishna.
Naren thought how mad this priest is.. Who is not stopping to utter complete blasphemy!
" Can You Let Me Experience God Then? "
Naren finally made the mistake of asking Ramkrishna this..
And Ramkrishna simply stood up, and placed his feet on Naren's chest.
Boom.. Whole Experience of Naren was completely shook.. In moments, tears started coming from narendra's eyes and he was unable to recognise his body different from its surroundings!
After sitting for long time like that, he opened his eyes, and said something marvellous.
" Oh master! What did you do to me!
Don't you know I have a mother at my home waiting for me!"
That was Ramkrishna, who was such established in spiritual plane, that he dared to admit he saw god and even had the power to let Naren feel it.
What is your take-away?
Right now, drop all your dogmas, doctrines and belief systems. Spirituality is a first hand experience. To know the ultimate reality, you need not read all the scriptures and perform rituals. If you have necessary potential, you can know your ultimate nature just by sitting at one place observing the life energy inside you!
What you need is just discrimination between real and unreal.
