Why an Indian commoner prefers not to meddle inside Indian Politics? The nasty truth.
Politics was infused in India since time immemorial. When most of the countries were still cavemen, hunting and roaming around like animals, we Indians already had Chakravarti Kings majestically ruling over the length and breadth of this country. When other countries didn't perhaps even learn to wear clothes, we had Rajas (Kings), Amartyas (Political Advisors) and Durbaris (Ministers) discussing social affairs of poverty, agriculture, capital growth, strategies for efficient ruling etc.
To mention few ancient texts on polity and society, firstly we have atleast 3000 years old Manusmriti. The Manusmṛiti is believed to be the first ancient legal text and constitution among the many Dharmaśāstras of Hinduism. In ancient India, often the sages used to put down their ideas on how the society should run on the Manuscripts. Then comes Chanakya’s Arthashastra and Chanakya Neeti. These are the most comprehensive works of statecraft and politics since the Mauryan times.
We were all good till the medieval times. The real mischief began when foreign traders started being naughty in their businesses in India. The Europeans, to fill their own pockets, tried every possible way to break social structures of Indians. In that attempt they degraded the entire Indian population firstly degrading the Education System. Then they manipulated our ancient texts and started promoting communial quarrels. What happened next is history. What happened next determined the whole fate of India. Some people pity and and some foolishly take pride in it. Then till the 20th century, the whole world was already swept in industrialization, materialism and an endless maze of capitalism.
This was the whole overview, an entire summary of the history of this world that how gradually the society transited ideologically. Let us now come to the present, the current condition of Indian Polity. When I say let us come to present, I mean to say India after Independence. The moment we got independence from the Britishers, we not only got the freedom from foreign rule but at the same time got this gigantic responsibility to have self-rule. Please understand this, when we say freedom, we mean freedom of governance, we mean freedom of power to rule.
You know, a student studies firstly for 10-12 years, then graduates from a college, passes all the nerve-wrecking examinations and then feels as if he is now free. But actually the real struggle is yet to come, the terrible blows of life yet remains.. And after passing out all exams comes the real exam - Life. In the very same way, we Indians today jump around everywhere.. Taking pride in our freedom from Britishers and so on, unknown of the fact that now is the real struggle. The Post-Independence progress of India is the most important phase of our whole freedom struggle. If we are not successful in making India as prosperous as our ex-rulers, mind this, all this illusory freedom is useless. Just think, it is only 75 years ago that Britishers left us for our own, like an orphaned child, independent of decision making. A mere 75 years is not so long ago. Ask your grandparents, some of them still live who had once seen Mahatma Gandhi or Subhash Bose in person!
India is in its youth. It needs fuel from its children in almost every sector, be it politics, economy, science and innovation and so on. In this situation, we wonder, why the heck politics has become so filthy in 21st century? You see, now we come to our main question.
A young Indian gentleman would say he would love to be a software engineer, mechanical engineer, programmer, IT expert, doctor, pilot and a thousand such aspirations. In terms of serving this country at large, selflessly uplifting this nation, at most he may say he would go for UPSC Civil Services. That also, just to try his leg in this, if he may accidentally pass out and get a nice government bunglow, princely salary, secured IAS job. Nothing, I shout NOTHING more than this.
In the other end, ask any of the MPs, MLAs, Politicians and even the Prime Minister himself, did any one of them ever dreamt that they really wanted to be politicians from the very beginning? Okay, do this. Ask a hundred sensible teenagers what they aspire to be. They would perhaps say the only things which I mentioned above. No sensible youth may even mistakenly murmur that he wants to open a political party, he wants to shook up the democracy or he wants to uplift the whole of Indian Masses with the power of Education and Good Governance. I highly insist you to do this experiment. No Indian student would ever dare to say these things unless you find a fool like me who thinks like this. A person tries his leg into Politics in India only after he has no other option. Only when he has no hope, only when he is good-for-nothing he tries his luck into that filth.
Why is this so? In my opinion, the current BJP rule in India has almost become like a dictatorship and Narendra Modi's leadership has become a one-man show. I definately do not mean he does not deserve his post. I do not mean to pass negative remarks on anything like this, but wonder why cant any other political party, infused fully with Modern ideologies, incessant vigour and thunderlike grit rise in power? Undoubtedly there are many regional parties desperately trying to get national recognition and people's support, but all I see in them is the same story relying on which BJP, INC, AAP and other parties are already working.
I am not here to sell my own views and ideas on how exactly any party should work. All I ask is that why the youth prefers to stay out of Indian Politics? In fact, they must be the ones to actually shine. All we see today in politics are those easily identical fat-old rusted out grandpas, smiling cunningly with folded hands, shouting around and throwing mud at each other's reputation, suppresing the newbies, freaking diabetic patients, always warm-blooded, carrying their power and position in their chests, corrupt from their very backbone.. Calling themselves politicians. Do you expect Post-Independent Renaissance of India coming out of these, O dear youths? Throw away your jobs, for these are just toys which a mother uses to distract a child. Throw away all your small-small aspirations, as something tremendously large is waiting for you. All these politicians have clouded your mind with safe job, secure future and that nonsense, keeping you away from the battlefield.. Like teasing a dog with a bone, they've turned you away.
I would not say anything more. Think for yourselves dear Indian youth. Be thinkers. Think what's good and what's not. Think for yourself and your fellow countrymen. Think for your Mother India and decide yourself, will your life do any good to the society? Or you've planned to die out like ants and mosquitoes, wasting all your life in your own cloud of likes and dislikes. Woah, too heavy to hear that, eh? Sorry. I would repeat, think for yourself.
Thanks,
Daksh Parekh.
