Degrading of Journalism and Rottening of Media - Early Signs of Dictatorship and Monopoly.
Journalism is indeed a queer art. From reporting the latest news to showing it to the national public without any bias or defect, From boldly showing government's shortcomings and yet again being able to manage to show its perks and advantages, Journalism is indeed a herculian profession.
Still, in addition, it is journalism that does the job to cover the bigger picture of a country. It is journalism that takes up the task to keep its audience well-informed and well-aware literally about everything - Daily happenings of India and its contemporary world, national affairs, newly introduced government plans, state news - Covering social, economic and political state of down from your locality to India and abroad.
Besides, democracy based on equality, fraternity and liberty in a country can only be judged first by looking at the country's freedom of press and media. The media of any nation is the final watchword of the government and at the same time the representative of masses. It is very very very important for journalists to be completely holy and honest in order to keep the public aware of every step its government is taking. At the same time journalism is a voice of the people too. It whips the government time to time, as it were, like a horse, by raising public demands or distresses, sparkling up a movement for a solution.
Talking now about the Indian Media,
My impression of it has become very bad. I see it in a very poor light. All what they do in the name of journalism is to spit out blasphemy 24*7...giving attention to vilest of things, ignoring the concerning matters.
For instance, we had seen so much, I mean very much of a useless drama in Indian Media when actor Sushat Singh Rajput was found dead and hanging in his room. Mind you, at the same time, our GDP was in negative percentages and CoViD-19 mismanagement was at its peak in India!
Again, take a very recent example, which actually inspired me to make a blog on journalism. Poor farmers in Uttar Pradesh were protesting against the governmemt for their rights. There was to be held an event or a program in Lakhimpur where the deputy CM of UP was supposed to be present. Thus, the farmers decided to protest there. At least four farmers were killed and several injured after they were deliberately run over by a car that was part of the convoy of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and BJP MP Ajay Kumar Mishra. Four persons in the Minister’s convoy were killed in violence that followed. The minsiter is saying that the farmers threw stone at them and is desperately trying to defend his son, who allegedly was present while the cars attacked the farmers.
Just three days ago was Gandhi Jayanti, a man known worldwide for his non-violence. In twitter it was trending #NathuramGodseZindabad. Again look what we're witnessing - an eye for an eye, violence over violence. Moreover, it would be terrible if in reality the farmers were peacefully protesting. It is terrible actually, considering the fact that it is Mother India who is at loss after this violent incident.
Amidst all this, think what our journalists were doing? "Shahrukh Khan's son Aryan Khan caught red-handed by NCB for possible involvement in drugs". You wouldn't believe that the very night after the Aryan Khan Drug Case, Aaj Tak tweeted about this 90 times! Some news channels were busy all day showing the old clips of Shah Rukh and Aryan and some were busy notifying that salman khan visited shah rukh after this incident and blah-blah-blah.
Now if you're thinking that this drug case is much more important to cover, then let me tell you that just 3 weeks ago a news broke out that 3,000 kgs of drugs were seized from Adani Mundra Port in Gujarat. Also, again just a week ago, Karnataka busted a drug supplying racket which was allegedly trafficking drugs through home deliveries!
What is our take-away?
It is really important to think for ourselves. You can never really know everything just by watching IndiaTV prime time. You would need to see all the sides of the coin and decide for yourself what the is the whole problem. Many many people allege that Indian Government has strict rules and restrictions for news channels. The govt might literally control everything through the media. Just think how ideological posion it may spread through news channels. Many politicans too uselessly tarnish eachother's image by literally buying certain news channels. After the Arnab Goswami WhatsApp Chat Leak incident, my faith in the Indian Media has been burnt to ashes.
Just think, what was the main weapon of Adolf Hitler in creating communial hatred in Germany? It was his ideology of targeting emotions. He constantly fooled the German Public by cooking up terms like 'pure german blood' etc etc. Hitler brainwashed the public. Thus, ideological brainwash is the most dreadful thing a country can have.
When people lose the ability to think logically and fight for their rights, the government takes the form of a devil. Then the government becomes incontrollable. Then we have no chances, as government immideately shuts the mouth of truth speakers. No reform and no prosperity could come when the public is brainwashed and oppressed.
Is the Indian Government using Indian Media as a slow poison to numb down and kill the brains masses of India?
Inqalab Zindabad,
Daksh Parekh.
