'Choose your Influencers Wisely' - How Internet Corrupts the Youth.

Once I had read a beautiful thing in Complete Works, an anology which explained how things in themselves are not good or bad, but our usage make them so. The anology pointed out how knife can cut people's throats, but  vegetables too. Fire can be used to cook, but can also set ablaze entire cities and forests!

Well, this same logic applies to the technologies we use around us. For me, gaining access to the internet from a very early age turned out to be a game changer. I can trace back all my skills, good qualities and general awareness to the simple fact that I was fortunate enough to get total freedom to surf on the internet.

"Internet has become the best place to influence any number of masses."

From my 7th grade to the very recent CoViD-19 lockdown phase, I have constantly experimented with the various platforms of internet. I'll tell you honestly, in my early 7th grade, all sorts of content was available to me. For a brief time, I even slipped into it out of sheer curiosity - but I was quick enough to realise how character-damaging and mentally sick stuff all that was.

Hence, today's blog throws some light to the matter of influence of technology-driven gadgets. Be it a TV or a mobile phone, we see direct impacts of movies, webseries, social media on all walks of humans.

This is 21st century, the Age of Information. Quite certainly, we are bombarded all the time with heaps and loads of information. This exposure is just overwhelming for us.

We might not realise it, but too much exposure to all this is constantly draining us. This mindless scrolling of reels, etc. is sucking both our time and energy, making us feeble in concentration, poor in thinking and powerless in creativity.

I'll not discuss the "time wasting" aspect of these technologies, but will talk about an issue millionfolds more dangerous than that.

Bollywood+Webseries - A Case Study

It's sad a reality that in the name of entertainment, we see the internet fully loaded with disgraceful webseries, shows and movies.

Already a large section of our youths are unemployed, most of them play PUBG, Jungly Rummy or some other gambling nonsense, that we see webseries after webseries, entirely on adulterated content, promoting foulest of language, and criminal, beastly storylines. On top of all this, we then find famous celebrities promoting absolutely dreadful products.

They then tell us, "Ah, it's the writer's imagination. It's all just for entertainment only. The audience likes this type of content."

Guys, do you think the society will be untouched by the influence of the absolute garbage that they're constantly pressing down on us?

Think how psycologically it affects the idle youths of our India. It downright defiles their souls, eats all the substance within it, and fills them with the most horrible ideas.

All of this third-class content sinks into the behaviour and subconscious mind of our youths, and like termites, eat up their core.

Role of Social Media in Politics :-

Internet is the best place for a political party to sell themselves and the easiest way to pull the legs of its opponents.

To say briefly, it can turn into a propaganda machine and a manipulation market very easily.
It's the place where they can lie and even God cannot stop them, unless and until we are aware.

What's the point of making today's blog?

Straight in one line - The Indian audience is largely immature as to what sort of content they're consuming, and how adversely it is affecting their mind and behaviour.

We need to take a step back and reflect what influences on the internet are driving our thoughts, behaviour and decisions.

Thanks,
Daksh Parekh.
